Job description
Founding Account Executive
London, New York
Full-time · In-office
£200k OTE (£100k base) · Plus equity
Artificial Societies helps organisations understand how real-world audiences think, feel, and respond, without the cost, delay, or limitations of traditional research. We build large-scale simulated populations grounded in real-world data, enabling clients to test messages, strategies, and concepts. Our clients love the ability to receive insights backed by millions of responses in hours rather than months, and to access previously inaccessible audiences (e.g. investors, CEOs, opinion leaders).
We’re backed by Y Combinator, Point72 Ventures, and Kindred Capital, plus investors from DeepMind and Sequoia Scout, and work with leading organisations across technology, financial services, communications, and public affairs.
We’re a lean and highly effective team. We move fast, hold a high bar, and trust each other to own outcomes end-to-end. The culture is collaborative but low-ego: ideas win on merit, not seniority.
About the role
We’re hiring our first Account Executive. We know who we sell to, and so far the founders have led every sale. What comes next is yours to shape: how we find the next buyer, how a deal moves from first conversation to signed contract, and how the clients we already have grow with us. It’s early, and you’ll define it alongside the founders.
You’ll work both sides of the business. You’ll source and close new logos yourself, and you’ll work with our forward-deployed engineers and client strategists to expand our existing clients, finding the next team, the next use case and the next budget inside organisations that already trust our work.
This is a quota-carrying role first. You’ll sell, and you’ll build the playbook from what actually works rather than from a template. Every process you set up, from qualification and pipeline stages to forecasting and the handover to delivery, is one the next Account Executives will inherit, so you’ll build it to be followed by others, not just to work for you.
If you want a defined territory, a full pipeline and an enablement team on day one, this isn’t it. If you want to decide how a new category gets sold, this is the role.
What you’ll do
- Source and close new logos. Own the full cycle: prospecting, discovery, scoping the first engagement, procurement and security review, negotiation and signature. You’ll build your own pipeline rather than wait for inbound.
- Expand existing clients. Work alongside our forward-deployed engineers and client strategists to turn a first engagement into a long-term partnership: more teams, more use cases, larger contracts.
- Build the sales process. Turn what the founders have learned about our buyers into qualification criteria, pipeline stages and a clean handover from sale to delivery, and sharpen our ideal customer profile as the pipeline teaches you more. Set up the CRM and keep it honest.
- Write the playbook others follow. Document what works, from discovery questions and objection handling to pilot structure and proposal templates, so the next hire is productive in weeks rather than months.
- Shape pricing and packaging. Work with the founders on how we price pilots, engagements and platform access, and how deals are structured.
- Close the loop with product. Bring back what buyers ask for, where deals stall and why we lose, and put it in front of our product and research teams.
- Own the forecast. Keep a pipeline and forecast accurate enough that the founders can make hiring and investment decisions on it.
- Help build the team. As we hire more Account Executives, help define the profile, interview candidates and onboard them onto the process you built.
What we’re looking for
- At least 18 months in a quota-carrying sales role. You’ve owned deals from first call to signature, and you can walk us through your numbers.
- Comfortable with ambiguity. We know our buyers, but there is no playbook, no enablement team and no formal sales process yet. You find that energising, not daunting.
- A builder of process. You’ve set up something others now follow, whether a qualification framework, an outbound motion, a CRM or a handover, and you enjoy making things repeatable.
- Self-sourcing. You can generate your own pipeline through outbound, your network and events.
- Credible with senior buyers. You can hold your own with a head of insight, a strategy director or a partner at an advisory firm, and you’re patient with long, multi-stakeholder cycles.
- Curious about the technology. You’ll be selling something new, so you’ll learn simulation well enough to explain what it can and cannot do, and to know when to bring in an engineer.
- Collaborative. Expansion happens alongside our forward-deployed engineers and client strategists. You share the credit and make the handover between selling and delivery seamless.
- Ownership mentality. You don’t wait to be told. You see what needs to happen to win the deal, and you make it happen.
Nice to have
- You were one of the first commercial hires at an early-stage startup, and you built pipeline without a brand behind you.
- You’ve sold AI, data, research or analytics products, where buyers weigh trust and accuracy before they buy.
- You’ve sold to insight, strategy, communications or consulting buyers, or you have a network among them.
- You’ve turned paid pilots into multi-year contracts, and navigated enterprise procurement to get there.
Logistics
- Location: London, in-office to start, with the option to move to our New York office in Q1 2027. We build better together, and this role is no exception.
- Compensation: £200,000 on-target earnings, split between a £100,000 base salary and £100,000 in commission at target, plus equity. Commission is uncapped.
Why join now
Simulation is a new category, and the person in this seat will decide how it gets sold. You’ll sell to organisations whose decisions shape markets and policy, alongside founders who have built the commercial base so far and engineers who can build what a client needs while you’re still in the room. The process you build becomes the way Artificial Societies sells, and the team that follows will be built around it.
